Because T20 packs so much action into a short window, the IPL supports an unusually deep menu of in-play and micro-markets — runs in the next over, runs at the fall of the next wicket, a specific batter’s runs, or whether a team passes a milestone total. T20 is a 20-over-per-side sprint, so momentum shifts fast and totals markets are king. The powerplay (fielding restrictions in the opening overs) shapes early scoring, and the death overs at the end can swing a total by 30 runs in minutes — which is why in-play prices move so violently.

Two quirks matter most. First, the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method resets targets when rain interrupts play, and a revised target can completely change a chase — any live bet is exposed to that. Second, conditions: pitches vary, and evening dew can make the ball hard to grip, sometimes favouring the side bowling or batting second. The toss decides who chooses. None of this tells you who will win — it explains why the odds behave the way they do.
